About the Index

The Shalom City Index builds on four objectives of the gospel of the kingdom and is informed by eight categories of shalom. The gospel of the kingdom is a core message that Christ Jesus preached. Shalom is a key purpose of God for the world.

Methodology

The theoretical framework and the analytical framework guide the developmental process of the Shalom City Index. The first framework focuses on the biblical, theological, and missiological foundations while the second on the statistical and analytical aspects.

Data Sources

The database includes a global sample of 163 cities and over 60 metrics encompassing demographic, ethnolinguistic, and socioeconomic dimensions. This data is a subset of the global cities database which includes over 3,200 cities and 150 metrics.
